Third Olympic gold medal for Tony ESTANGUET

Today the triple Olympic winner Tony Estanguet performed an amazing show on the slalom course at Lee Valley during the Olympic race of single canoes. 
After the semi-finals he was ranked in 3-rd place behind Slovenian Benjamin Savsek and the present European Champion Sideris Tasiadis from Germany. 
His biggest competitor, Michal Martikan, went to the Final from the 4-th rank. 
History started to be written when Tony took lead after his final run and then he had to wait for the last two competitors, but neither was able to beat Tony´s time.

 

Tony Estanguet said immediatelly after the Final:

"Its a great moment for me. I did a lot of work to be back after the 9th rank in Beiing. The water was very fast here but I am maximally satisfied. It is like a dream !"

 

The silver medal was taken by the present European Champion Sideris Tasiadis from Germany who also performed great final run and beated Olympic legend Michal Martikan from Slovakia by 0,22s. Martikan took the bronz olympic medal for the first time in his career and he completed his collection of Olympic medals.
